Migration/Global Migration is a sensitive issue but also a topic of study. Many universities now offer many courses to study in great detail the various dimensions of migration, local, regional and global.

Tel Aviv University offers MA in Global Migration and Policy designed for students with strong educational backgrounds, professional drive and, preferably, previous professional or activist experience. The program covers “topics on immigration and citizenship policies; legal and ethical perspectives on refuge and asylum; the labor market integration of immigrants; the challenges of social integration and ethnic identification of the “second generation”; marginalization and discrimination; migration and the environment; and best practices in international development and humanitarian aid, among other subjects.” (https://international.tau.ac.il/ma_global_migration_and_policy)

There is a wide variety of courses available in the United Kingdom. The University College London has an MSc in Global Migration. The programme combines theoretical and policy debates about migration and trained students to work with migrants and asylum seekers in different parts of the world, who aspire to posts in UN, EU, national policy think-tanks, government research and policy departments, NGOs, community-based and grassroots organizations.  (https://www.geog.ucl.ac.uk/study/graduate-taught/msc-global-migration). The nine months M.Sc. The University of Kent runs an MA in International Migration. The Queen Mary University London offers MSc in Migration, Culture and Global Health. The Middlesex University London runs an MA in Migration, Society and Policy which focuses on migration and related socio-political and policy issues, combining theoretical, methodological and practice-oriented training relevant to a number of career routes in academia, policy-making, the public sector, the community sector and NGOs. In the United States, the MA program in International Migration Studies at the City University of New York, The Graduate Center focuses on the subjects like International Migration, Global Immigrant Cities, Research Methods in International Migration, and Migration Policy. Ryerson University, Canada runs an MA Program in Immigration and Settlement Studies (ISS). “The ISS Program provides fertile ground for knowledge enhancement and in-depth analysis of past and present migration patterns, policies, and practices” (https://www.ryerson.ca/graduate/programs/immigration/)

In Europe too, there is wide variation in the courses offered. The University of Copenhagen, Denmark offers MA in Advanced Migration Studies. The programme focuses on “humanities and social science approaches to migration, including ethnology, anthropology, sociology, sociology of religion, history, philosophy, political science, sociolinguistics, education, and literary and media studies.” (https://studies.ku.dk/masters/migration-studies/). The Aalborg University, Copenhagen runs an M.Sc. Programme in Global Refugee Studies with a strong research component and focuses on refugees and forced migration”. It deals with topics including “current international developments and research perspectives in migration and ethnic relations; the effects of globalisation and human mobility on societies, groups and individuals; the social and political adaptation and integration of ethnic minorities in different societies; issues of inclusion and exclusion of immigrants; majority-minority relations; and philosophical and ethical perspectives on life in diverse and complex societies.” (https://edu.mau.se/en/Program/SAIME).
