Complex Adaptive System

The study of complex systems has been gaining in importance over the last three decades. Significant developments in the application of computing to other fields facilitating the integration of computer science concepts into the fabric of science.

Chalmers University of Technology runs an MSc in Complex Adaptive Systems which is “based on a physics with a focus on general principles, but it also provides courses in information theory, computer science and optimisation algorithms, ecology and genetics as well as adaptive systems and robotics”. (https://www.chalmers.se/en/education/programmes/masters-info/Pages/Complex-Adaptive-Systems.aspx)

University of Gothenburg has a Master’s in Complex Adaptive Systems which provides “fundamental aspects of complex systems in nature and society and links them with an understanding of skills in using modern algorithms” and builds mathematical knowledge. (https://www.gu.se/en/study-gothenburg/complex-adaptive-systems-masters-programme-n2cas) Kings College London runs an MSc in Complex Systems Modelling which teaches to apply mathematical technique to the areas such as “biomedicine, nature, economics and social sciences”. (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/study/postgraduate-taught/courses/complex-systems-modelling-msc)

University of Sussex has an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Systems which concentrates on “theoretical issues and practical techniques for their design and implementation.” (https://www.sussex.ac.uk/study/masters/courses/artificial-intelligence-and-adaptive-systems-msc)

Universität Hamburg has an MSc in Intelligent Adaptive Systems which imparts learning in creating intelligent systems “through a variety of sensors and optimize their behaviour over time”. (https://www.inf.uni-hamburg.de/en/studies/master/ias.html) De Montfort University Leicester runs an MSc in Intelligent Systems which helps to “develop the techniques and methods needed to tackle the problems that can’t be solved through traditional approaches to computing.” (https://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/courses/postgraduate-courses/intelligent-systems/intelligent-systems-msc-degree.aspx)

The University of Vermont has an MS in Complex Systems and Data Science which imparts learning in “(1) describing and understanding complex natural and sociotechnical systems, enabling them to then, as possible, (2) predict, control, manage, and create such systems.” (https://catalogue.uvm.edu/graduate/complexsystemsdatascience/complexsystemsdatasciencems/)
